Mercuri Winter 2022 Ambassadors
Meet Dan
Dan Steers is a Sales and Commercial Advisor at Siddall and Hilton Products Ltd and is undertaking the Level 4 Sales Executive Apprenticeship.
What’s the best thing about being an apprentice?
“For me, the fact I am working alongside some fantastic, experienced professionals whilst learning a whole new skillset alongside my duties is undoubtedly the best thing about being an apprentice. I feel I have a nice balance between individual learning, learning from others internally, and carrying out the day-to-day tasks. I am also well supported by both Mercuri and Siddall & Hilton Products, and this is assisting me with my sales career and allowing me the freedom to study and work in a hands-on role.”
How would you say apprentices help employers?
“The best way for apprentices to assist employers is to be willing to learn and be easy to teach. An organisation will enjoy having an apprentice more if they are easy going and take all their learning in their stride, as well as bounce off other experienced professionals within the business. Furthermore, apprentices offer fresh mindsets and innovation to employers as they can apply their new discoveries to working life and keep motivation levels high.”
Can you share with us your thoughts on becoming a Mercuri Ambassador?
“When I was informed about becoming a Mercuri ambassador I was absolutely delighted, and I wasn’t expecting it at all! But it is such a fantastic way for me to receive recognition for the hard work and commitment I’ve put into my apprenticeship so far. All in all, I couldn’t be much happier, and it’s given me a spring in my step to keep up the hard work – not only throughout the remainder of the programme, but also everyday working life.”
Meet Ian
Ian Whitehouse is a Supervisor at UPS and is currently undertaking the Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship.
What’s the best thing about being an apprentice?
“I would say the best thing about being an apprentice is that you gain more than just a qualification, you gain real world experience and the opportunity to network with others who are working towards the same goal.”
How would you say apprentices help employers?
“Apprenticeships help employers by allowing them to grow and develop talent from within their workforce. Employers are able to adapt the training according to the needs of the business.”
Can you share with us your thoughts on becoming a Mercuri Ambassador?
“I am happy to become an ambassador as I feel upskilling myself is vital for my future. By working through this apprenticeship it is helping me gain valuable knowledge within my industry which I am more than happy to promote.”
“Dan had started his apprenticeship at a previous workplace and had not resumed it when I joined Siddall and Hilton. It was soon apparent that it would be a good opportunity for both Dan and Siddall’s for him to resume the apprenticeship as part of the companies longer term progression planning for the Sales Team. Dan soon recognised that the apprenticeship could help structure his development at the company. I’m pleased to say that he has approached the training with complete passion and dedication. Dan is an integral part of the internal sales team and the apprenticeship has boosted his confidence. We’re all very proud at Siddall and Hilton that Dan has been asked to be an ambassador for Mercuri as it reflects all his hard work and commitment to the training programme.”
Tina Bostock, Sales Office Manager, Siddall & Hilton Products Ltd
“Transferring newly acquired knowledge and skills back into the workplace environment is the vital link that employers get excited about. Ian is modelling that through his apprenticeship which is fantastic for him and the organization.”
Barry Hilton, Mercuri International Managing Director
