Mercuri Spring 2021 Ambassadors

Meet Adrian and Paul

Adrian Williams is an Account Manager at Royal Mail and is undertaking the Level 4 Sales Executive Apprenticeship programme.

Adrian Williams

What’s the best thing about being an apprentice?

“For me the idea of bringing the unconscious into the conscious is the key factor of undertaking this apprenticeship. I started this as an experienced salesperson and as such, it’s easy to think you have the knowledge and skills to deal with any sales situation. However a few chapters into the learnings, I realised that many of the things we do day by day are pretty much done unconsciously. Bringing this into the forefront of the mind has really helped develop and build my skills for the future.”

How would you say apprentices help employers?

“Developing apprentices will ensure they are growing new skills, behaviours and knowledge within the sector & business. Boosting productivity and giving a voice in changing the way things are done. The Sales Executive Level 4 gives you a thorough knowledge of the whole sales process and sales environment, which ensures that you get the highest level of training.”

Can you share with us your thoughts on becoming a Mercuri Ambassador?

“It’s an honour to become a Mercuri Ambassador. You spend a lot of time working towards achieving this qualification, sometimes not knowing if you are working in the right direction, but to be recognised for this work is great, thank you!”

Paul Newson is an Asset Management Team Leader at Rockwell Automation, is undertaking the Team Leader Level 3 Apprenticeship

Paul Newson

What’s the best thing about being an apprentice?

“I think the best thing about being an apprentice is it is open to anyone over the age of sixteen and a great way for people to upskill, retrain and change careers at all ages. The apprenticeship helps you gain the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in your chosen industry.”

How would you say apprentices help employers?

“Apprenticeships are an investment in people and employees who have been trained within an organisation tend to be highly motivated, committed to the that company and supportive of the company’s goals. Apprentices often bring a fresh approach and a positive attitude into the workplace.”

Can you share with us your thoughts on becoming a Mercuri Ambassador?

“It is a privilege to become a Mercuri Ambassador. Industry and people are constantly changing therefore management styles must adapt accordingly. The apprenticeship gives you the tools to enable you to modify your own style.”

Why Adrian?

“Adrian has gone from being unsure about the programme overall to really embracing it; demonstrating real depth of thought, proactivity, sharing insightful observations and responding to briefs comprehensively.”

Euan Cunningham, Learning & Development Coach, Mercuri

Why Paul?

“Always ahead of the group, Paul has been working through his functional skills and doing well in terms of progression.  Paul has a growth mindset and is willing to adapt his style to suit his new client based on the learning from the apprenticeship.”

Amran Naseem, Learning & Development Coach, Mercuri

“It has been fantastic to see Adrian’s development during the last year since undertaking the SEL4 learning programme. Seeing the change in him over the last few months has been particularly rewarding as he has been able to bring to life the learning through his sales opportunities and relationships – both internally & externally. Adrian is beaming with confidence as he develops and shares insights with the team, leaving a trail of positivity in his wake!”
